No Local Government in Nigeria under Boko-Haram control- Nigeria Minister of Defense

Defense Minister- Mansur Dan-Al
The Nigerian government has said that no local government area in Nigeria is currently under the control of the renown terrorist group Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking today, March 30, as a guest in the studio of Voice of America, the defence minister, Mansur Dan-Ali said contrary to reports that two local government areas are under terrorists’ control, no territory in Nigeria is being controlled by the group.

The minister also debunked claims that some of the abducted Chibok girls are being used by terrorists as suicide bombers.

Commending the Nigeria army for the success reached in the fight against insurgency in the northeast, the minister said since the present administration became into power, there are slightly pockets of Boko Haram activities in the region.

This he said is a positive drift from when over 60 local government area were under the control of the terrorist group.

Despite failing to meet the December 2015 deadline given by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria army have since continued their onslaught against the insurgents operating in the northeast region. Also, the notorious Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau in a video claimed he has surrendered to the federal government.

But the Nigerian army has warned the general public to disregard Shekau’s declaration.

The army said Shekau’s video is aimed at deceiving innocent Nigerians.
