Super Eagles fail to qualify for African Cup of Nations 2017

Nigeria Super Eagles will not participate at the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon as the team lost 1 – 0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt in the second-leg of the qualifiers against Egypt, following a strike by Ramadan Sobhy.

With the devastating result, Egypt are now on 7 points with Nigeria on 2, with just one game left against Tanzania since Chad Republic pulled-out of the qualifiers citing financial constraints.

The Super Eagles will play their last match at home to Tanzania in June in what would be a formality. It would be recalled that the Super Eagles also failed to reach AFCON 2015 which was hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
