Devastation struck Kurmi market in Kano as about 95 shops were burnt to the ground

An estimate of about 95 shops were razed by fire that gutted the famous Kurmi market in Kano metropolis on the night of Tuesday, April 26. 

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), one person died due to suffocation and another injured following the fire outbreak 

The incident which occurred around 10pm yesterday night to the early hours of today was brought under control by men of the state fire service. 

Authorities are still investigating to what led to the fire outbreak.
