Kanu Nwankwo blames Pinnick, NFF for Super Eagles failure to qualify for AFCON

Kanu Nwankwo and Amaju Pinnick
Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu has picked on the current leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Amaju Pinnick.

This comes on the heels of the country’s failure to qualify for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON), the second consecutive time.

In an interview with BBC sports, Kanu said: “What is happening with Nigerian football is that the top management is not what it is supposed to be so what is below is being affected.

“The NFF has to change their style of leadership if Nigeria were to achieve success again.  “When the head is not right, even your body won’t be right.”

Several prominent stakeholders and football lovers have demanded the resignation of president of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick as well as his entire executive committee after this unprecedented failure. Football lovers are all lamenting, because it is quite obvious that the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the AFCON in Gabon is as a result of the poor management roll of the NFF.

However, Pinnick has insisted he will not quit. On Tuesday, April 5, the NFF executives will meet with the country’s sports minister for a consultative meeting in Abuja on account of the country’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2017 in Gabon.
