Nenadi Usman returns N140m and surrenders 2 houses to FG

Nenadi Usman
Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister, has reportedly returned N140 million out of the N2.5 billion she allegedly received from the office of Sambo Dasuki, a former national security adviser, ahead of the presidential election in 2015.

Vanguard reports that Usman, who served as the director of finance of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, has surrendered two of her houses in Abuja to the federal government.

Confirming this information, a top source in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) hinted that the ex-minister might be released on bail on health grounds.

According to the source, an undisclosed health challenge facing Usman has compelled the EFCC operatives to consider granting her administrative bail to seek medical attention.

“She is still with us, but we are considering granting her bail, even though we have a subsisting court order to keep her.

“The former minister and lawmaker has agreed to surrender two of her choice property in Abuja, in addition to refunding N140 million to the federal government,” the source said.

The sum of N2.5 billion was transferred out of Central Bank of Nigeria into her account. In addition, N140 million cash was allegedly paid into her Zenith Bank account in January 2015.

However, Usman agreed to cooperate with the anti-graft agency and had already returned N23m to the federal government.
